What We Offer
Three Ways to Experience Camphor House
Whether you are looking for full-time residence, a cultural programme, or a restorative week on Lantau, we have an option shaped around you.
Back to HomeOur Approach
How We Think About Care
Camphor House is not built around a set of procedures. It is built around a belief that the environment you live in shapes how you feel, and that village life – at the right pace – is genuinely nourishing for many people.
Listen First
Every enquiry begins with a conversation about the person – their background, their preferences, their pace. We then recommend the option that seems most fitting.
Shape Around the Individual
Our programmes and residence are structured, but not rigid. Daily rhythms at Camphor House adjust around the person, not the other way around.
Keep Family Connected
We communicate openly with families, encourage visits, and work together to ensure each resident feels settled and at home from the start.
Option One
Village Residence
A residential home in a tranquil fishing village setting on Lantau Island. Private rooms are furnished with rustic comfort – a solid bed, natural materials, and a window with a view worth waking up for. Three meals daily feature fresh seafood alongside traditional Cantonese dishes. Activities include harbour walks, local market visits, and afternoon storytelling about village history. Housekeeping and laundry are provided. Staff offer attentive support in a close-knit community setting.

What to Expect: A Typical Week
Mornings
Breakfast in the common room, followed by a walk to the harbour or a quiet hour in the garden before the day's activity begins.
Mealtimes
Lunch and dinner are shared occasions – an important part of the communal rhythm that makes Camphor House feel like a home rather than a facility.
Afternoons
Village market visits on certain days, Heritage Programme sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and free time always available for rest or conversation.
Evenings
Calm and unhurried. Residents often gather in the common room, or simply enjoy the quiet of their room with the sound of Tai O settling into night.
Heritage sessions, Tai O community
Option Two
Village Heritage Programme
A twice-weekly programme exploring the cultural heritage of Tai O's fishing communities. Participants learn about traditional crafts, local history, and the relationship between village life and the sea. Sessions include guided walks and conversations with community elders. Each session runs from 10 AM to noon with light refreshments provided.
Monthly Fee
HK$1,720/month
What Each Session Covers
Fishing Heritage
The history of Tai O's fishing trade, the types of craft used, and the seasonal rhythms that shaped village life across generations.
Traditional Crafts
Net-making, salt fish preparation, and other crafts passed down within Tai O families – many of which participants can try themselves.
Elder Conversations
Informal, guided conversations with community members who have spent their lives in Tai O – candid, warm, and full of personal stories.
Option Three
Island Week Retreat
A seven-day stay on Lantau Island offering a change of scenery and pace. Guests receive a private room, all meals, and full access to activities. The island setting provides fresh air, natural beauty, and a quieter rhythm of life. The Island Week Retreat suits those who are curious about Camphor House, those returning for a rest away from the city, and those whose family would like them to experience the setting before deciding on longer residence.
Per Week
