Common Questions

Things Families Often Ask

We understand there are many considerations when exploring residential options for a loved one. Here are some of the questions we hear most often.

What does a typical day at Camphor House look like?
Days at Camphor House follow a gentle, unhurried rhythm. Mornings often begin with a stroll along the Tai O waterfront or a quiet hour in the common room. Meals are taken together – breakfast, lunch, and dinner – with menus featuring fresh seafood and traditional Cantonese dishes alongside lighter fare. Afternoons may include heritage programme sessions, market visits, or simply resting with a view of the harbour. Evenings tend to be calm and sociable.
Does Camphor House provide medical or nursing care?
Camphor House is a residential home, not a medical facility. We do not provide nursing or clinical care on-site. Our staff offer attentive support with daily living and maintain a warm, watchful community atmosphere. For residents with specific health needs, families are encouraged to arrange external healthcare support in consultation with us before arrival.
What meals are served, and can dietary needs be accommodated?
Three meals are prepared daily using fresh, locally sourced ingredients – many from the Tai O market or nearby waters. The menu balances traditional Cantonese cooking with lighter, nourishing options. We are glad to discuss dietary preferences or common requirements when you enquire, and our kitchen team works with residents to make mealtimes something to look forward to.
Can family members visit, and how often?
Family visits are warmly welcomed. We encourage family members to stay connected and visit as their schedules allow. The village setting of Tai O is itself a lovely destination, and many families find their visits become a gentle outing as much as a check-in. We can discuss visiting arrangements during your initial enquiry.
Is Camphor House suitable for someone who needs help getting around?
Our setting in Tai O is characterful but not without its village lanes and steps. We are best suited to residents who are relatively mobile and do not require specialist mobility or physical care. If you are unsure whether Camphor House is the right fit for your family member, we encourage a visit so you can see the environment for yourself and speak with our team.
How do I arrange a visit or make an enquiry?
You are very welcome to reach us by phone at +852 2458 6319, by email at [email protected], or by using the contact form on this page. We typically respond within one to two working days. We are happy to arrange a tour of Camphor House and answer any questions your family may have in person – no pressure, just a quiet conversation.
